Sharing the highs and lows of life with my 15.3 thoroughbred cross mare, Emmie.

Hello!

I have decided to create a little blog just to document and share things that happen with me and my horse, Emmie, in our everday life.

I guess I should start out with the introduction!
My name is Kyrie and I am 23, I graduated last year with a degree in Equine Sports Science. I think I must be the only equine graduate who has gone on to my particular career, and that is zookeeping. I'm currently an animal ranger at a wildlife park and I work with a variety of species including giraffe, camels, antelope and zebra. It is a tiring job, but incredibly rewarding - and I love every minute of it!

My other passion in life is horses. I've been involved with horses since I was 8 years old and got my first pony at 11, who I still have - she's a 14.2hh supercob called Dinah. She is now 18 years old and still going strong. My other pride and joy is my beautiful coloured tb x, Emerald Rock. I am very proud of the journey I have shared with Emmie, as it has been a long one and it's taken blood, sweat and a lot of tears to get to where we are now.
I started eventing with Emmie while on a placement year at uni in 2013. I was very lucky to be able to go and work for a fantastic event rider, who had me well and truly hooked on eventing within a few days of being there! I stayed with her for 13 months and competed Emmie along with a couple of other rides as well as grooming at events up to 3* level.

Emmie and I competing at our first BE100 in 2013

This year I plan to get her back up to BE100 (we mostly did 90s last year) and get some good scores under our belts. All alongside work and maybe I'll even squeeze a social life in there - somehow!

Hopefully I'll remember to update this blog and have some interesting things to share on the way!

Kyrie
