Sharing the highs and lows of life with my 15.3 thoroughbred cross mare, Emmie.

I AM still alive...

It has been a rather long time since my last blog post, but life has been insane recently! I thought I would just give you all a little update on me and my crazy mare.

I have been kept on at work which is fantastic; I was only on a temporary contract but am now permanent. The winter months working at a zoo are pretty crazy, with shorter hours meaning less time to get everything done, but I'm still loving it - can't beat getting to work with giraffes every day!

Emmie is doing well, and now taking it a little easier for the winter. Our last event was at Norton Disney, which I actually forgot to do a blog post for - whoops! - she went well but seemed a bit off it, and physio a week later revealed she was feeling very stiff through her back. Two treatments later and she's back to her old self. We did finish in 14th place after a 34.5 dressage, unfortunate 3 poles SJ and a double clear inside the time XC.

So after her last event, she had a couple of weeks off and is now just doing some hacking and dressage for the winter. Recently she has been especially aggressive towards people, usually when doing anything that involves touching her - brushing, picking feet out, changing rugs, tacking up... she swings at you with her teeth bared! So I have the vet coming tomorrow to look into it, as while she has always been a mareish mare, I feel she is quite unhappy about something at the moment.

So that's all from us for now - I'll try and keep my blog updated about some of our winter antics!
