Hi all!
Just thought I'd pop on and do a quick update on how Emmie is doing (I'm also about to do a product review of the EquiAmi training system, so keep an eye out for that!)
On my last post I talked a little about Emmie not wanting to jump, etc and that the vet was coming out. She had both her hocks x rayed which found arthritis in both. As far as arthritis goes, it's not too bad - so had no bony spurs, it's just closing of the joint space. Even though I was expecting it, it's still quite gutting to hear that your 12-year-old competition horse has a degenerative condition in both hind legs. But now I've had time to think about it, and it doesn't change much when it comes to what I can do with her etc - I just need to manage her carefully, keep her strong and make sure I'm very quick to pick up on anything that might suggest she needs them re injecting.
She's now back in full work and going well, so the next step is the try eventing again and see how she copes. We're entered for Frickley BE90, which should be quite easy for her having been at 100 for 2 years. She looks really healthy and fit so I'm looking forward to at least managing a couple of events before the end of the season!
