So as I said in my last post, I was off to do a little bit of showjumping to see if we had conquered our speetley issues. As it happens, we hadn't! She was totally not with me, really acting like she had no desire to jump, she stopped twice and was just crashing through everything. I actually ended up having a little cry when I got back to the trailer :-(
After that, I decided to get the vet out to pull some blood. The blood ended up fine, but she also had a slightl bit of soreness in her back so I decided to get the physio out before deciding on any further moves. I'm SO glad I did, because her back has really changed since the physio last saw her (only around a month ago!) and she did actually trot up lame, which she didn't for the vet. She found her back end in general quite sore, and she had some muscle wastage on the right side of her back. She was 99% sure it's all coming from her right hock.
So now we have the vet coming so X ray and probably medicate the hock. Emmie does have a history of hock problems, and usually gets on alright with having them injected once yearly. I decided this year to not have them done and see how we got on, since she seemed to be going fine, and they haven't been x rayed in 4 years. Well, hindsight is a wonderful thing....
But never mind, hopefully we sort her out and get back to it very soon!
